Mayapples create a continues blanket across the forest floor. Creamy white blooms appear beneath umbrella like leaves. It grows in deciduous woods, flood planes, bottomlands and shaded roadsides. Always a welcome sight along the forest path. Mayapple has been used by Native American Indians topically to heal skin issues. Two of its derivatives have shown promise in treating some cancers. The white bloom is a symbol of healing and protection.
