Morning sun shining through the Bald Cypress leaves.  Missouri native tree, the Bald Cypress are most abundant in wet, swampy soils of floodplain lakes and along stream side corridors. A mature tree can live as long as 500 years and reach a height of more than 100 feet. These trees are deciduous conifer, meaning they drop their leaves in the fall like maples and produce cones like pine trees. Getting the name because they appear bald during the winter.
